“CONSCIOUS LIVING - CONSCIOUS AGING”
BY RON PEVNY
“As the boomer population is retiring healthier than any generation before them, aging is looking a whole lot different. Ron Pevny, Founder and Director of the Centre for Conscious Eldering, presents readers with a new model for aging that is contemporary yet grounded in time-honored wisdom, focusing on aging’s potential for growth, passion, purpose, service, and spiritual exploration.
Pevny encourages readers to stop viewing aging as the twilight of their lives and welcome in a new dawn by not just growing old, but by aging consciously. Readers learn how to: Identify unfulfilled goals and put plans into action, Navigate grief and loss, Discover new ways to contribute to their communities, uncover avenues for turning life’s later chapters into a time of profound personal development.”
STAYING CONSCIOUS - Ch:12, P:161[2014 pub:]
Practices For Becoming and Staying Conscious.’
“…Don’t let this reality discourage you. As you seek to grow into a conscious elder, you must become ever more aware of both your darkness (so that you can transform it) and your light (so that the best of you can shine through). This inner work, which requires commitment and effort, is what conscious eldering is all about.” https://www.centerforconsciouseldering.com/.

MORE RESOURCE INFORMATION
Ron did his Master’s work in Integral Counseling and Psychotherapy at the California Institute of Integral Studies, learning therapeutic and growth practices from around the world. In 1980 he was one of the first to be certified as a Wilderness Rite of Passage Guide, and played a key role in the founding of the worldwide Wilderness Guides Council. Throughout the 90s, his rite of passage and coaching work was complemented by his service as a corporate creativity trainer for Herrmann International and by consulting with the adult learning programs of numerous colleges and universities. Ron and his colleagues at the Center for Conscious Eldering share a deep commitment to supporting the development of conscious elders in a world urgently in need of elder wisdom and gifts.”
Reflection:
In many other cultures, ‘elders’ are also known as older adults, simply seniors, and even as wisdom holders. Regardless of where you might live on this planet, those of us over fifty-five years will not find it difficult to identify with the knowledge shared by Ron in the desire to age positively.
